Wow am I behind!!

As with everyone I am sure, the closer we get to the holidays the busier we get. I am having a hard enough time keeping up taking pictures much less posting them but lets rewind (quite a bit!!) and revisit October. We got to go back and see such dear friends from college, the Burke family. I watched their little girl Ava, when she was Kenlee's age and cannot express what a beautiful person she has become inside and out. It was SUCH a joy to see and spend time with them.

Other than that, the trip was one of those trips where NOTHING went right. Both kids were sick... stomach bug sick by the end. After forgetting cash for the ETBU homecoming game, and sprinting all over campus for an ATM, we arrived a quarter late and left before halftime because our kids were melting down (little did we know the night we had in store).
photo op with Jesus before the game

The next morning we awoke to two kids with a stomach bug which made for a LONG drive home. Friends... this bug lasted almost two weeks for Emerson and a week and a halfish for Kenlee. I have never felt like I could not handle a situation with kids before...ever. Especially my own. I was close to a breakdown. Emerson wouldn't sleep, he couldn't eat, he cried 14 hours a day LITERALLY without stopping (for 13.5 days) and when I say I changed 20 diapers and did 4 loads of sick laundry a day that is actual numbers and not exaggerations. The doctor said (every time we went) there was nothing to be done but let it run its course and keep him hydrated. On top of that,  I was SOOO afraid of friends getting it, we barricaded ourselves in an extra week so as to not let any germs escape! There was more than one occasion where I just had to cry. By the end of it we were certainly stir crazy (and ready to see family and friends again!) so off to the pumpkin patch we went with Nonnie and Papa Dell!!

At first this was as close as Kenlee was willing to get to feeding the animals.
Emerson was completely fine with it though!
Then came the maze!!

Emerson enjoyed walking around, but thought it was rather nice for Papa Dell to carry him too!

Poor Kenlee bends down in every picture now because she has hear "can you bend down next to your brother please?" for many a photograph!!

Then came the hay ride..

Emerson was entertained exactly 1 second before he wanted to climb out. After the long...long...slow ride we picked our pumpkins.

Emerson kept looking at all the pumpkins and saying "ball!!!" He tried to throw everyone he picked up. Kenlee would get frustrated and repeat every time that he was wrong and it was a pumpkin.
By the time we were leaving, Kenlee was finally feeling brave enough to feed the animals.
We snapped a quick picture by the truck and ended a much needed day!
Thank you Papa and Nonnie for saving us!!! A few days later, we painted the pumkins and ended the day with apple pie!

It was a tough couple of weeks but I am SOO humbled every single day that I get to be these two precious kiddos mommy and I will take every single bit of the job description. We are so thankful each and every day and the really sick moments make you even more grateful for the pumpkin painting, pie baking, couch snuggling days!!!
